Why Queen Anne's Lance? This is the English name of our Polish Wild Carrot and in translation it means "Queen Anne's Spear". According to many legends, Queen Anne of Denmark was a master in embroidering lace with the Wild Carrot pattern. This embroidery appeared very often on her collars, and therefore the name of this beautiful, fanciful, but common flower was adopted from her name in England. This flower is also commonly called Dzikuska, because around July-August it is spread wildly in meadows and forests. I also came across the name "Bird's Nest". Single carrot umbrellas are characterized by quite long peduncles, which makes the entire inflorescence concave like a bird's nest.
